Naijiel Hale, the son of late singer Nate Dogg, accepted a football scholarship to the University of Arizona.

The Arizona Daily Star reported that Hale, a four-star cornerback from Southern California, committed to playing for Arizona on Tuesday night.

“I’ve known I’ve wanted to play for them since the day they offered me,” Hale told the paper. “They’ve been my top school since Day 1. I’ve been in love with the coaching staff they have.”

“I’ve just loved everything about the school since they offered me,” he said.

Hale received other scholarship offers this year, including one from Boise State.

His father, Nate Dogg, was a hip-hop crooner whose most famous track was “Regulate” with Warren G in 1994.

Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, died at age 41 in 2011 after suffering multiple strokes.
