NetherRealm Studios director Ed Boon talks about Raiden in Mortal Kombat X in a new trailer.
The legendary thunder god will come in three variations with different abilities.
In his Thunder God version, Raiden will have enhanced lightning attacks, which allows him to do more damage to opponents.
Displacer Raiden grants the thunder god teleportation abilities and increased speed, which makes him more mobile.
Finally, Storm Lord Raiden can create lightning traps to “better control the battlefield.”
Raiden retains his classic move, the flying tackle, across all three variations.
Boon also reveals that the thunder god will find “many of his allies dead or gone,” and has to face Kotal Kahn, the new emperor of the Outworld.
Not much details of the game are known at present.
So far, only seven characters have been announced. They are Raiden, Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah, Ferra, Torr, and Cassie Cage.
Ed Boon might provide more information about Mortal Kombat X come Gamescom in Cologne, Germany from August 13 to 17. Boon hinted strongly that he will be there in a tweet.
Mortal Kombat X will be released sometime in 2015 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
See the Raiden trailer below. Viewers should be forewarned that the gameplay is rather graphic.
