Mom lets kids fire bb gun: Susan Becker of Long Island, New York, allegedly drove her teenage children around and encouraged them to shoot at parked cars. Police say there have been at least 60 reports of damage.
Susan Becker is said to have driven her 13-year-old son, 15-year-old daughter, and another 15-year-old around their Long Island neighborhood as they shot parked cars with a bb gun. Police received more than 60 reports of damage to cars in the area, reported Newsday.
“My brother was a victim … He lost two windows in his car and has to pay out of his own pocket for them,” writes Meghan Horn in a comment on the Long Island News 12 website. “She should be ordered to pay for every window,” Horn says.
One of becker’s neighbors, Susan Morelli, tells NBC 4 New York this is completely out of character for Becker.
“Susan is a great mom, she’s a great neighbor, she’s always there to help everybody,” Morelli said. “A very all-American typical mom. I just can’t say enough nice things about her because she’s just such a nice person.”
The neighbor said there must be some part of the story “that we don’t know about. … She just wouldn’t do something like that.”
Becker is facing 10 counts of criminal mischief and 11 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to Long Island News 12.
