It’s a sound ice cream lovers around the world will recognize.
Mister Softee, a franchise housing over 350 dealerships and 600 trucks, operating in 15 states and China, has announced the death of Les Waas.
Waas was the writer of the iconic Mister Softee jingle, originally written for a radio commercial in 1960, according to a Facebook post by the company.
“The song has since become one of the most recognized commercial jingles in America,” the post read. “Our condolences to his family.”
On its website, Mister Softee says it has “been bringing the very best ice cream and frozen treats to kids and families since 1956. Mister Softee is the largest franchiser of soft ice cream trucks in the United States.”
Waas died on April 23, he was 94.
