A missing 19-year-old student at Onondaga Community College, located in New York, was found dead, officials said Monday Feb. 15.

Alex P. Hendry, 19, of Rochester, was found dead outdoors around 1 a.m. local time, said the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. He was reported missing on Sunday night by his roommate when he didn’t come home from a party on Saturday, reported Syracuse.com.

The National Weather Service said the temperatures ranged from -16 degrees F to -23 degrees F.

Deputies said he was last seen leaving the party on foot. He hadn’t been heard from since, CNYCentral.com reported.

Hendry, a graduate of Hilton High School in Rochester, was a freshman general studies student at the college. He was also a member of the college’s basketball team.

“The thoughts and prayers of our entire campus community are with Hendry’s family and friends,” the community college said in a statement.

The cause of his death is still under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call (315) 425-2111. The sheriff’s office didn’t say if foul play was suspected in Hendry’s death, and deputies have not released other details, TWC News reported.

The college added in the statement: “Onondaga Community College is saddened to announce the death of student Alex Hendry. Hendry was a freshman from Hilton High School in Rochester. He was a general studies major and a member of the college’s baseball team.”

“Hendry attended an off-campus event Saturday night and was reported missing Sunday afternoon. An extensive search was conducted by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department and OCC’s Campus Safety. Hendry was found deceased early this morning outside, near the college’s baseball and softball fields. A full investigation is underway.”
