The Minecraft Xbox One edition is slated to release on Friday, September 5.

The announcement was made by game developers this week. It’s the first time a specific release date has been announced. Developers previously said that the game would be out sometime in August, but several delays pushed the release back.

4J Studios, which is developing the next-gen editions of Minecraft, had said in its previous update on August 29 that the Xbox One edition was handed over to Microsoft for a final test.

The Xbox One edition will be available for download on September 5 in the Xbox Store.

Owners of the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition retail disc or digital version can upgrade for just $4.99, or new players can download the full game for $19.99 USD.

All downloadable content players have purchased for the Xbox 360 Edition is available free for re-download on Xbox One.

The new edition has worlds that are up to 36 times larger than on Xbox 360 and the edition will also have an even bigger canvas to create on.

Meanwhile, PlayStation France has confirmed on Twitter the rumors that the digital version of the PS4 Minecraft will be released on Wednesday, according to IGN. However, the link to the tweet from PlayStation France has been removed, raising questions as to whether a release will happen this soon.

4J Studios and Mojang haven’t commented on the PlayStation 4 version rumors as of yet. 4J has said recently that the version is close to being completed.

The PlayStation 4 version was recently handed over to Sony for final testing. The PlayStation Vita version is still being worked on before that step can be taken.
