Actor Michael Douglas claimed Monday that friend and former co-star Val Kilmer is battling throat cancer.

He told an audience in London that for Kilmer “things don’t look too good.”

Kilmer, 56, has several times in the past denied reports that he is ill. Last December, photos appeared to show him in public with a tracheostomy tube.

“Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had [cancer], and things don’t look too good for him,” said Douglas, as reported by the Telegraph. The two appeared in the 1996 film, “The Ghost and the Darkness.”

“My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately,” Douglas, 72, said. Douglas himself had battled tongue cancer in 2010.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Kilmer didn’t make any mention of Douglas’ comments. He instead promoted his film, “Cinema Twain,” about the life of author Mark Twain.

Also, he somewhat cryptically wrote at the end: “‘The recent news of my death has been greatly exaggerated...’” MARK TWAIN. And his values and spirit live on even now! And I’m sure still standing! Yippee!”

Earlier in 2016, Kilmer went on Facebook to deny the rumors he had been battling throat cancer, saying he was supported by people who “know my spiritual convictions.”

“I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the UCLA ICU,” the “Top Gun” actor wrote on Facebook in January. “Friends have assisted who know my spiritual convictions and have been most sensitive and kind for the extra effort in making sure there’s minimum gossip and silly talk.”

Kilmer recently appeared in a music video for electronic musician Oneohtrix Point Never’s track, “Animals,” which made its debut earlier this month.
