Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2014 is on Monday.

So are schools open on this federal holiday?

No, schools are not open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

As with most federal holidays, schools are closed.

There may still be sports practices or other similar activities, but most of these are usually canceled as well.

Colleges and universities also typically don’t have classes on MLK Jr. Day. Most of them are still on winter break, at least until Tuesday.

Libraries and post offices, as well as government offices, will also be closed.
