The Marine Corps Marathon 2013 route winds around Washington D.C, beginning next to the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

The route winds around near Lyon Village Park, turns onto N. Spout Run Parkway, crosses over the Potomac River, and goes several blocks on Canal Road.

The contestants are then looping up onto Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway NW, before coming back down on the road down the waterfront, passing the Lincoln Memorial as the road turns into Ohio Drive.

The halfway point is marked near the bottom of East Potomac Park, where it turns back up the opposite side of the park, leading to the Washington Monument and past many of the Smithsonian museums.

After the 30K mark, the route leads several blocks south in the museum area, then passes the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, and crossing back over the Potomac River on the I-395 bridge.

After dipping down into Crystel City, the route leads past the Pentagon’s 9/11 Memorial, up S. Washington Boulevard, and onto Jefferson Davis Highway, where the marathon ends.
