Famed Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao may seek to get a new promoter in order to boost efforts to line up a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather has been a rumored fight for quite some time but still hasn’t happened or been set up. Both are considered near the top of the sport and many fans want to see the pair face-off.

Pacquiao is considering letting his contract with Top Rank run out at the end of the year in order to sign a new contract elsewhere.

He may also cut ties with long-time promoter Bob Arum to try to get another promoter who could make the fight with Mayweather happen, reported Ring magazine.

Pacquiao’s financial advisor Michael Koncz responded to the reports, telling the magazine that he and Pacquiao are pursuing all avenues ahead of the contract expiring.

“Bob has been good to us and we have nothing negative to say about Top Rank but we have to decide what’s best for Manny at this stage of his career,” Koncz said. “If we don’t’ extend our contract with Top Rank, we may go out on our own and promoter ourselves.”

Some of the rumors surrounding the development claim that rapper 50 Cent could partner with Pacquiao and his team.

“Maybe we’ll have a partner and promote ourselves,” Koncz said.

Before the contract expires, Pacquiao is slated to fight the winner of the Juan Manual Marquez-Mike Alvarado bout later this month.
