Manny Pacquiao takes on Chris Algieri in his next fight, but many believe that the Filipino fighter will win the match against the relative unknown.

More attention is being paid for Pacquiao’s next-next fight, in 2015. There was bolstered speculation that Pacquiao will finally fight Floyd Mayweather in the spring after Mayweather’s father reportedly told someone that Mayweather wants the money such a fight would bring.

If Pacquiao does indeed beat Algieri, there aren’t that many candidates left that are viable opponents. One of the fighters that is a viable opponent besides Mayweather is Amir Khan, who may have fought Mayweather if not for the timing of the fight (Khan said he wouldn’t be ready for a September fight because of Ramadan).

Khan last beat Luis Collazo in his first contest at welterweight and recently revealed that he'll fight in December, with Robert Guerrero and Devon Alexander under consideration as opponents.

Khan said that a matchup with Pacquiao--his former sparring partner--in May 2015 is also on the table if the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight doesn’t happen.

“If the Mayweather fight happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t,” Khan told the Telegraph.

“It’s one of those fights I wanted and everyone else wanted. I really believe the speed could have given him a lot of problems.”

“Manny Pacquiao is another name. What a great story line that would make. Amir Khan fighting his old sparring partner and friend, Manny Pacquiao. ”Freddie Roach used to train me, so there’s a lot of history there. That would be a huge fight,” he added.

“I know what to expect from Manny Pacquiao. We used to get the better of him in sparring and everything. ”Manny Pacquiao is still the same fighter. I still have a lot of respect for him, he’s a great fighter, but these are the fights I want.”

Khan has also expressed interest in fighting Mayweather next year.
