Two people are dead and at least 30 people were injured when the roof of the Mandaue Public Market in Cebu province collapsed, following a 7.2 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday and a series of aftershocks.

One of the people who died was a meat vendor named Juresoa Casol, reported Jun Tariman, a journalist based in Manila. The vendor died after debris fell on him or her.

The public market is in downtown Mandaue City.

The damage in Mandaue Public Market started from collapsed railings, reported PTV. Vendors are transferred to the old market along highway as area has been cordoned off.

DWIZ reported that 30 to 40 people were transported to the hospital after a portion of the roof collapsed at the market.

Bohol police chief Dennis Agustin said 77 of the deaths came from Bohol. At least 15 others died in nearby Cebu province and another on Siquijor Island.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
