A man from Halmstad received 170,000 kronor (US$23,850) per month in benefits since 2007 by feigning cerebral palsy.

The Local Sweden reported. According to the paper, the 32-year-old’s x-ray examinations showed no evidence of brain damage.

Further medical exams had to be stopped due to the man’s misbehavior. Under police surveillance, investigators found that the man was more capable than he claimed.

The man was supposed to be unable to talk well or take care of himself and was confined to a wheelchair. However, he was seen outside of his apartment using a cell phone and participating in a table tennis tournament.

Five assistants who cared for him through a disability firm are suspected of collaboration. One of them left Sweden last November and has not returned.
