Man Tells Puppy ‘You Look Handsome!’ The Pup’s Response Will Have You in Stitches

Do you have a pet? Do you talk to them? Of course you do, there’s no shame in it! It’s actually completely normal and sometimes it even reaps the most adorable results.

Sometimes, of course, our pets don’t respond in a particularly meaningful way; we might get an ear twitch, a subtle growl, a meow, or a tail wag here and there. Occasionally, we might be treated to an iconic head tilt and the famous “puppy-dog eyes.” But here’s an example of the crème de la crème of human-puppy interactions.

For puppy parent Sean Sarantos, whose video clip was shared on YouTube, having a conversation with his baby French bulldog is just par for the course. The pup’s reactions, on the other hand, are worthy of all the hand clapping and high-pitched squealing you can muster. He is just so, so cute!

The puppy’s interactions with his human companion are all completely amazing, but the very best moment of all occurs immediately after Sean tells the puppy that he’s “handsome.” Just watch for yourself what he does; it’s got the internet in peals of laughter.

If you didn’t fall off your chair in a fit of cuteness overload, then kudos to you! We dare you not to come back to this clip time and time again for a pick-me-up in the middle of a monotonous day. Laughter, as they say, is the very best medicine, especially if it comes from a pint-sized French bulldog puppy.

And we’re not alone in loving this.

“I don’t think I’m weird for talking to my pets like they’re human beings,” said writer Arianna Rebolini of The Atlantic, “if only because so many other pet owners do the same. I tell them I love them,” she continued. “On days spent away from my apartment, I return home and greet them by asking how their day was.”

But why do we do it?

“First of all, talking to our pets is absolutely natural,” shared Hal Herzog, anthrozoologist (what an incredible job title) and professor of psychology at Western Carolina University. “They give us a lot back!“ Herzog continued. ”When you talk to them, they respond. I don’t think [they process] words the same way we process words, but we have this communication system based on language.”

If this little pupper’s response is anything to go by, then Herzog’s synopsis is right on the money. The public seems to think so, too. “The puppy is priceless,” one user commented. “Clearly there is love between these two,” wrote another, followed by: “He’s a good looking little guy in that bandana!”

Some even offered guesses as to what the puppy was thinking. “The puppy is saying ‘I want to look tough!’” wrote one. “When dogs snort, it usually means yes,” suggested another, “or that they are agreeing with you.”

So there you have it; we all talk to our animals, and it’s perfectly normal. Not to mention off-the-charts adorable in this case! Go on, go back and watch it again. We’re going to, because we simply can’t resist Sean and his sassy French bulldog’s bandana-clad cuteness!
