A shooting was reported at Parks Mall in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday evening, according to local media reports.

Arlington police confirmed with NBC5 in Dallas that there was a shooting, located on Interstate 20 and Cooper Street.

One officer was working for the Parks Mall while off-duty to investigate theft at the Sunglass Hut.

The suspect ran away from the officer and went to top level of the food court and took out a fake gun.

The officer then fired several times and hit the suspect, officials said.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, and his condition is not known, the NBC affiliate reported.

“This happened when the mall was extremely busy, there were a lot of bystanders,” Lt. Christopher Cook said. “But luckily no one else was injured in this incident.”

The incident took place at around 4:30 p.m. local time.

The Star-Telegram reported that the mall was evacuated.
