Man Cancels 101st Birthday Party Due to CCP Virus, Asks for 101,000 Likes Instead

With the current social distancing measures due to the CCP virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, birthday parties, joyous events, weddings, and more have been canceled in various parts of the world.

However, one 100-year-old man, named Owen, whose birthday is due refused to let his day pass without a celebration and instead asked social media users to help him reach 101,000 likes in lieu of a birthday party.

A picture of the elderly man smiling in glee shows him holding a sign that reads “Hello, I am Owen. I am turning 101 on March 31st. My party was canceled because of social distancing. Help me celebrate by getting 101k likes/comments.”

The touching appeal was uploaded to Twitter by Mohamad Safa, a permanent representative at the United Nations from Lebanon who has more than 79,000 followers.

Safa invited his followers to “share and comment to help us make his upcoming birthday special.” He requested that people “Take 60 seconds and do it for Owen!”

With less than a week left until Owen’s birthday, the response has been incredibly enthusiastic, with over 152,000 likes from Twitter users who have taken to wish him from different parts of the world.

One social media user wrote, “Wow, your looking good Owen. Have a fab 101st Birthday Young Man and please stay safe.”

A second one chimed in, writing: “Birthday FUN at 101, Dear Owen, you’ve witnessed sweeping innovations since you were born. Rotary phone to iPhone...Studebaker to Tesla...Flight infancy to Supersonic...and despite all the changes...it’s love that remains the same...Birthday blessings!”

While a third one wrote, “Happy birthday Owen. Have a wonderful day, and here’s to the next 100 years.”

Although there’s no information available on the post about Owen’s whereabouts, it’s clear that people understand the importance of feeling special at this unprecedented time of the CCP virus outbreak.

The Epoch Times refers to the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, as the CCP virus because the Chinese Communist Party’s coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China and create a global pandemic.

Many elderly people the world over have been self-isolated in order to protect themselves from the outbreak.

Meanwhile, North Carolina baker Angela Neely Stewart’s confectionery creations has been receiving attention as she continues to do her part to make people’s birthdays sweet and memorable during the pandemic.

Stewart has been posting pictures on Facebook of special “Happy Quarantine Birthday” cakes that she has been baking for customers. Featured on her special cakes are humorous images of toilet paper and Clorox disinfectant products as well as the motto “Stop COVID-19.”

Besides the special cakes and online wishes, people are finding creative ways to celebrate birthdays, including a Clark County, Kentucky, family whose dad, James Nisbet, had to celebrate his 50th birthday alone as he was recovering from the CCP virus. His children, son Pearce and daughter E.A., sang the happy birthday song from just outside the front door and dropped off a cake for him.

“I had no idea I was going to be in isolation with this, but to be honest, the most important people showed up at my front doorstep were my kids,” Nisbet told local news station WKYT.

While the kids couldn’t give a hug to their dad, he was able to see them through the glass door and video chat with them via smartphone. “It might not seem like a lot, but just something really small goes a long way,” daughter E.A. said.
