STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Tickets to Madonna’s concert in Helsinki, Finland sold out within three hours on Feb. 9. Fans faced problems with both overloaded on-line and phone sales providers, reports the Finnish television YLE.

Ticket outlets were overwhelmed by the record demand to Madonna’s upcoming show in August 2009.

Finnish Madonna-fans experienced serious difficulties with both telephone and online sales.

According to YLE, lines were jammed on Monday morning to the Lippupiste sales office. Internet ticket booking services were also overloaded and crashed.

Scalpers have begun selling Sticky & Sweet concert tickets online at high mark-ups. Ticket-vendor Lippupiste (similar to Ticketek) has issued a warning against buying tickets from scalpers, and warning that scalpers may not actually have the tickets they are posting for sale online.

A record total of 80,000 tickets for Madonna’s concert came on sale at 9 a.m on Monday, Feb. 9. The superstar’s concert will take place at Jätkäsaari in Helsinki on Aug. 6.
