The base engine for the 2022 Silverado is a 2.7L Turbo High-Output capable of 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, which is a 24% increase in torque. Helping to promote that increased torque is the unique dual volute turbocharger with priority on oiling and cooling to take on the toughest jobs with ease. This engine is coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

At the top end of the engine options, the Silverado can be configured with a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 and a 10-speed automatic transmission, putting down 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft or torque. Fuel consumption for such a large displacement is improved through Dynamic Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology.

Sandwiched in-between are the 270-horsepower 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel inline-six, and the 355-horsepower 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 which is the standard engine for the High Country model.

The chassis is enhanced to increase off-road performance and capabilities. Silverado fuel economy is about average for the truck’s size: The 6.2L powertrain with 4WD is rated 15 mpg city and 19 mpg highway for combined average of 17 mpg.

The 6.2L Crew Cab carries a maximum payload of 1,780 pounds and pulls a maximum of 9,000 pounds.

Inside the cabin, the Jet Black/Nightshift Blue color palette is complemented by leather bucket seats with 60/40-split fold-down bench back seat. Real wood trim elevates the luxury feeling of the cabin. There is plenty of leg room, and plenty of space around the legs overall. The rear cabin is massive with tons of leg, shoulder, and head room. Front seats with memory function and the leather-wrapped steering wheel are heated, as are the mirrors.

The 13.4-inch Diagonal Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium System has Google built-in for the connected world. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM, USB ports, and Bluetooth audio streaming provides plenty of audio sources. Quality audio is produced through Bose Premium Audio. OnStar & Chevrolet Connected Services provide an additional layer of safety. Wi-Fi hotspot is also available through additional arrangements with OnStar.

Outside, my Chevrolet Silverado was covered in Dark Ash Metallic color. The body-colored rear bumper has integrated CornerSteps. A full set of LED lighting provides illumination while serving as an integral part of the exterior design. All are complemented by a power rear sliding window, dual exhaust with polished tips, plus 22-inch painted aluminum wheels with chrome inserts and all season tires for the whole exterior package. HD Surround Vision and Bed View Camera provide helpful extra eyes for operating a big truck.

One of the most beneficial aspects of the exterior was the bedliner with 12 tie-downs in the bed. The spray-on bedliner allows you to load bricks, cement blocks, gravel, or hundreds of other types of cargo and not have to worry about the bed. They will not penetrate or dent the bedliner. Even when dropped from several feet above the bed, the liner stays intact without damage or blemish.

Silverado is available with a comprehensive array of safety and security features like Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Intellibeam auto high beam, HD Surround Vision, and Bed View Camera.

The 2022 Silverado is a big, hard-working truck. While it can be used for activities like pulling a boat, camper or trailer, the truck’s main function is to aid the working man. Whatever your activity or goal, Silverado delivers service from a luxury cabin. It provides a communication and entertainment center, married to some of the highest technology and safety features in the industry.

On, I almost forgot. Trailer Sway Control Assist and Auto Grade Braking are both standard features.

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price for the 4WD High Country Crew Cab Standard Bed starts at $60,295.
