All 19 pro-democracy lawmakers in the opposition camp of Hong Kong’s legislature said they will resign en masse after the local government disqualified four of them, following a resolution adopted by Beijing.
“The ruling coming from the [China’s] central government simply reflects that they [Beijing] totally gave up on ‘one country, two systems’ in Hong Kong,” said Wu Chi-wai, chairman of the local Democratic Party, in a joint press conference with other pro-democracy lawmakers on Nov. 11.
