A Lao Airlines plane crashed into the Mekong river in Laos on Wednesday. All 44 passengers died.

There were 39 passengers, and five crew members aboard. 

The Bangkok Post reports bad weather surrounded the ART twin-turbo plane as it attempted to land in Champassak province in southern Laos.

The flight, QV301, was headed from Vientiane, near the southern border of Laos near Thailand, to Pakse.
