In 2010, in a village near Izmir, Turkey, a lamb was born with probably the creepiest deformity possible. It had a button nose like a human baby’s, smiling human-like lips, and the facial structure of a human being.

The lamb has received renewed attention since the story was posted to Reddit this May. CNN Turk originally reported on it in 2010.

The lamb was stillborn. It shocked 29-year-old veterinarian Erhan Elibol, who told CNN he had seen many malformed animals, but nothing like this. He thought excessive vitamin A in the mother sheep’s feed may have been to blame, but no cause was definitively determined.

In 2009 in Jomvu village in Mombasas Changamwe constituency, Kenya, a goat was born with what looked like a human face. Fearing an evil omen, the owner decided to bury the kid alive, according to Kenya Citizen TV, but some youth exhumed it shortly thereafter.

Witchcraft is common in the area, and it was blamed for the deformity.

Videos show local villagers swarming to look at the kid. A man handles it, showing it to the crowd in a manner some people who commented on the video online found too rough and disturbing.
