Kevin Walker, 26, was found guilty by a jury Wednesday for the murder of Chicago police officer Alejandro “Alex” Valadez in 2009, reports DNAInfo Chicago.
Christorpher Harris is also being prosecuted. Harris and Walker were being tried together in the same courtroom, but had different juries. Another defendant in the case, Shawn Gaston, was convicted in 2011. He is serving 25 years.
Valadez, 27, was investigating gunfire when he was killed. The gunfire was being exchanged between gang members, when the officer was hit in the leg and head. After his death, tougher gun laws against gang members caught with weapons were passed.
