Jeremy Meeks has become well-known after his mugshot was posted online by the Stockton Police Department.

Meeks, 30, was arrested on felony weapons charges after a sweep in the Weston Ranch area of the California city on Wednesday.

The police department posted the mugshot online, and it generated over 22,000 likes and 5,600 comments, many from women admiring his looks.

The mugshots of the other three men arrested in the sweep did not generate much action, having less than 25 comments between them.

“OMGGG superrrrrr Delicious,” commented Adjutha Lambertina, while Michelle Asher Morales asked: “Can we be handcuffed together….lordy!!”

Amanda Sullivan added that it is “the most attractive looking mug shot I’ve ever seen!”

“It just proves that most people never rise to their true potential. And, that most of us are fooled by a pretty smile and nice eyes lol,” she added.

Others suggested that Meeks should become a model, which was incorporated into the memes that began circulating.

Meeks is being held in the San Joaquin County Jail on $900,000 bail.

Because of the attention, News 10 went to interview Meeks at the prison.

Meeks was in a gang but relatives say that he escaped that life seven years ago and “gave his heart to God”--but believe he’s being stereotyped by police. Officers say he’s part of the Northside Gangster Crips.

Meeks has had numerous run-ins with the law, including being charged with identity theft in April 2005. He also spent two years in state prison for grand theft.

“I appreciate [the attention] but I just want them to know that this is really not me,” he told News 10 from behind glass. “I’m not some kingpin.”

Meeks said that he has been married for four years and that he and his wife have a three-year-old son.

Relatives added to the Daily Mail that Meeks has left the gang life.
