Jena Irene Asciutto is considered one of the strongest female finalists on American Idol, as one of the top 13. So who is she?
Asciutto is 17 and still in high school.
She’s from Bay City, Michigan and has lots of fans in the area, including her grandfather Joel Loiselle.
“My grandfather is so awesome,” Asciutto told mlive.com. When things get crazy, “the comfort of knowing my hometown and my friends and family are behind me makes it easier going up there each time.”
Her career choice has been solidified by her already high ranking on American Idol.
“Up until last night, everything was awesome, but it was all so surreal,” Jena said. “Now it’s starting to soak in. This is my new life; this is my career.”
Asciutto once fronted the popular Detroit rock band Infinity Hour, though the band broke up last February.
“”Jena has decided to focus her energy in other areas. We have had a fantastic run, full of great experiences that will no doubt help us all continue our careers in the industry,” the band said at the time.
