A remark about the possibility of Apple releasing the iWatch in September turned out to be only a joke.

Influential Apple blogger John Gruber made a comment recently about the Moto 360: “It looks like Motorola’s designers tried to draw as much attention as they could to the 360’s stupid flat-tire display shape.

“The only way this could get funnier would be if it doesn’t even ship until after Apple announces their wrist wearable thing next month.”

Gruber’s comment quickly caught on, but the blogger quickly clarified in a tweet that he has “no idea whether Apple is planning wrist thing for September or October, just making a joke.”

Although Apple does have a media event on September 9, it is believed that the date is set for the unveiling of the new iPhone, and not a new “wearable.”

Earlier rumors point to a December 2014 release for the Apple iWatch owing to a supply side issue.

Thus far, the iWatch is said to come in a 1.6-inch screen and two 1.8-inch screens variants.

The screens are either LG displays with plastic OLED screens or AMOLED displays by LG, and feature sapphire glass.
