Apple’s latest iOS 7.1 version is proving to be the hardest OS to jailbreak yet.

Despite earlier news that a jailbreak for the iOS 7.1.1 is available and working, it turns out that the jailbreak is only effective on certain generations of Apple mobile devices.

The Evad3rs jailbreak only works on Apple phones and tablets that use the A4 processor. This means that the iPhone 4, 4S, and iPad can utilize the jailbreak, while the newer iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, and iPad 2 and iPad Mini still don’t have a working jailbreak available.

Due to the newer security that comes with the A5, A6 and A7 processors, hackers are finding it increasingly difficult to come up with a jailbreak.

In fact, Evad3rs will only try to make a make a new jailbreak for the iOS after Apple launches the iOS 8 in the fall, MotoringCrunch reports.

In the meantime, owners of 5th generation Apple devices may want to hold off updating to iOS 7.1 if they still wish to enjoy using the Cydia app and other apps that require a jailbroken phone.
