Here is an AP column on Inter legend Javier Zanetti.

Zanetti Curtain Call

Inter Milan legend Javier Zanetti will make an emotional final appearance at San Siro on Saturday.

Zanetti has been at Inter for 19 seasons but has confirmed that he will retire from football at the end of the campaign, at the age of 40.

“Yes, of course there will be great emotion inside me,” Zanetti said. “But at the same time I think the most important thing is the aim of the team, which is to win the match and be able to reach our objective of Europa League qualification.

“I hope it can be a great party, but first we have to win the game. Afterward there will certainly be a lot of emotion on my part at being able to thank all my fans.”

Inter hosts Lazio, knowing that victory would all but guarantee it a spot in the next season’s Europa League.
