Another added (sic): “The madness when I grew up years ago still occurs today when people would get robbed, shot or spend money they don’t have on a pair of sneakers to impress folks they don’t like or increase [their] ’so-called' self worth. It only cost $16 to make Jordans but are sold in retail stores for $250-$550.”

“This why everyone needs to stop buying Jordans... Stop supporting that man even if you are reselling them you’re still supporting him. Stop trying to make that extra dollar off the resells. People need to boycott all Jordan products,” said another.

There have been fights over Jordans for years. In December 2013, upon the release of the Air Jordan 11 Retro Gamma Blue, a brawl ensued while shoppers were waiting to buy the shoes in the Bronx. Fights were reported in in Stockton, Calif, and in other U.S. cities.

In 2011, a similar scene unfolded in stores across the country.
