A high-rise child rescue attempt was carried out in central China last week, it was reported.

A 5-year-old girl was rescued after she climbed out the sitting room window after she was locked home alone in a 24-story apartment complex, reported NTD Television.

She was trapped in the window bars around 200 feet above the ground.

Firefighters were forced to carry out the rescue after a crowd gathered around outside the building--located in Hubei Province, reported the Stuff.co.nz news website.

The website reported that rescue workers were able to cut through metal bars and a man secured with a rope went out to grab the child, and he took her inside the building.

The child told rescuers her mother left her locked inside the apartment without supervision.

Two days ago in Henan Province, a 5-year-old boy was left dangling four stories above the ground before he was rescued. The boy also said he was left inside his mother’s apartment without supervision.
