Blizzard has announced three more new heroes for their upcoming game, Heroes of the Storm.

Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) after the fashion of DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Heroes of Newerth, and League of Legends.

Basically, MOBA games revolve around two teams of five “heroes” seeking to down the opposing teams’ tower defenses and base structures. Endless hordes of “creeps” spawn at regular intervals to help the “heroes” go about their business.

Despite a seemingly saturated market for MOBA games, one of the drawing points of Heroes of the Storm is that it allows gamers to play their favorite “hero” from the universe of each of the three big Blizzard games: Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo.

In a recent trailer, Blizzard revealed Anub'arak, an undead Nerubian spider from Warcraft 3; Azmodan, a Lesser Evil of the Burning Hells in Diablo; and Chen Stormstout, a Pandaren Brewmaster from World of Warcraft.

There aren’t any details on the heroes yet, but Blizzard is sure to update their profile on their official site.

Blizzard also showed three new battlegrounds, Garden of Terror, Blackheart’s Bay, Haunted Mines, Dragon Shire, and Cursed Hollow.

Heroes of the Storm’s unique battlegrounds are also another aspect of the game that will differentiate it from League of Legends and Dota 2.

The more established MOBAs are based on a Starcraft “Aeon of Strife” map layout, and all games play out on the same arena.
