On Thursday, the world lost a member of pop music’s royal family, as it was reported that Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson) died at his home in Minnesota. He was 57 years old.

Last week, in Atlanta, Prince held the likely last performance of his classic, “Purple Rain,” and it  was recorded by Jake Reuse, who uploaded it to Twitter.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” Yvette Noel-Schure, a publicist for the singer, said in a statement.

On social media websites, there was a massive outpouring of grief and mourning.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Prince’s plane made an emergency landing, as the singer wasn’t feeling well.

In his career, Prince won seven Grammy Awards and earned 30 nominations.

A number of people were also sharing Prince’s performance during Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
