Happy Friendship Day! Friends all over the world celebrate their bonds on Monday. Twitter users have chosen some of their favorite celebrity friendships.
MTV asked Twitter users on Monday to name their favorite celebrity friends—aside from the obvious choice of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.
One response was Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutchenson, co-stars of the Hunger Games.
At a Comic Con interview in July, Hutchenson told Extra he and Lawrence don’t do much when they hang out together, just listen to music or something really relaxed after working hard on filming. Hutchenson praised Lawrence’s modesty and down-to-earth nature.
Another favorite friendship response was One Direction band mates Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles. Tomlinson, 21, told Tiger Beat: “I am Harry’s wingman. … I’m the really blunt one, so if Harry wanted someone’s phone number, I‘d be like: ’Basically, Harry wants your phone number.'”
A celebrity friendship duo that has gotten some attention lately is Jodie Foster and Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis was in a car crash last week in Venice, Calif., sustaining minor injuries. Foster arrived at the scene to help her long-time friend, reports US Magazine.
Gomez doesn’t have Swift all to herself. Swift is also close with Emma Stone. Stone debuted in the television series Superbad and plays Gwen Stacy in Amazing Spider-Man 2, set to hit theaters next year.
Swift told Glamour: “I’ve developed this really close-knit group of girls. Two of my close friends are bandmates. My other close friends are Ashley, Claire, Diana, Emma [Stone] and Selena [Gomez].” She said, “I’m the kind of girl who needs to tell her friends everything.”
Zooey Deschanel and Gordon Levitt became friends in 2000 while filming Manic. Deschanel uploaded a YouTube video of the two singing “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”
When they filmed 500 Days of Summer together in 2009, Deschanel said they “spent every lunch hour dancing to Marvin Gaye in the hair and makeup trailer,” according to Parade.
Former Saturday Night Live co-stars Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have a comic companionship. Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz make for charming chums. Brad Pitt and George Clooney are cute cronies. And Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz are pretty pals.
