Troy Polamalu, known almost as much for his long hair as his prowess on the field, is planning to get a haircut for charity.

The Pittsburgh Steelers star has kept his hair long for a long time. He hasn’t had a haircut for 10 years.

In the past he said that he wouldn’t cut his hair unless the Steelers won the Super Bowl.

But Polamalu has opted to support veterans by cutting his hair.

“We talk about supporting veterans often, but now its time for us all to DO something. I’m getting a ceremonial haircut this Veterans Day for the #VFWManeEvent with Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW I DARE you to join me. www.VFWManeEvent.org“ he said via Facebook.

Some fans were distraught with the news.

“OH! NO! Troy don’t cut that Hair!!!!!” said Chris Reichmuth.

Others were supportive.

“ It will surely be a sad day to see those beautiful locks of hair gone, do what’s in your heart... it’s for a good cause. Much love and respect to you!” said Jamie Gabijan.
