Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he will respond to a petition that seeks to revoke the automatic safety status of dozens of processed refined carbohydrates and require food companies to prove they are safe and not contributing to health issues.

“We will act on David Kessler’s petition,” Kennedy said in an interview aired by CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Feb. 15.
