Griselda Blanco is a real life drug king behind the new television series “La Viuda Negra,” which premiered last night on Univision, UniMas, and Galavision.

Griselda, a Colombia native, pioneered drug trafficking in the United States. She eventually settled in Miami where she became known as “Godmother of Cocaine.”

Blanco was the daughter of Medellin’s mistress, and began a life in crime at age 10 after allegedly kidnapping and eventually killing a child from a wealthy family. Early in her career she also married and has three sons.

Blanco moved to New York in the mid 1970s with her second husband, establishing a cocaine importing business, reported the Latin Times.

She fled to Colombia after being indicted on drug conspiracy charges before moving to Miami.

Her cocaine network there brought in an estimated $80 million a month.

Besides being a drug king herself, Blanco was reportedly a huge fan of “The Godfather” film.

But she was ultimately arrested in 1985 by the DEA. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison; afters erving 10, she was released and deported back to Colombia, where she was assassinated.
