Greg Treadway, 49, of Long Beach pointed a handgun at police outside a home in the affluent Belmont Heights neighborhood of Long Beach, Calif., Saturday. He was shot and wounded by police and remains in stable condition.

Police had responded to a call that an armed man was on the premises in violation of a restraining order, according to a police statement released Sunday night.

At about 6 p.m. Saturday, Treadway was at the home in the 200 block of Park Avenue, the home of his ex-girlfriend who had the restraining order against him. He broke into the garage, where police believe he got the gun.

He has been booked on attempted murder, assault against a police officer with a firearm, burglary, and violation of a restraining order.
