Famed, high-tempered maître d' Gordon Ramsay opened up about the long-standing feud with his father-in-law in a recent interview with Men’s Journal.

They went from being “two wings of the same plane,” to bitter enemies when Ramsay discovered Christopher Hutcheson, his wife’s father and his business partner, was supporting a double life on company funds, Ramsay told the Journal.

Ramsay’s publicist reported that Ramsay and Hutcheson reached a settlement worth 2 million pounds (US$3 million), according to a Telegraph article published Thursday.

In 2010, Ramsay hired a private detective to investigate excessive loans Hutcheson took from the company. He discovered Hutcheson’s second, hidden life—a mistress and two children.

A family rift resulted, with Ramsay’s wife sticking by her husband’s side to the chagrin of her father. Hutcheson allegedly began hacking Ramsay’s emails and releasing personal information to the press.

Hutcheson once called Ramsay, “schizophrenic ...a Svengali...a monster,” according to the Journal.
