On May 13, a homeless man assaulted two women in their 70s before being stopped by a stranger, according to police.

The good Samaritan who intervened and restrained the attacker is also said to be homeless.

The two elderly women are now recovering from being battered and bruised outside Shopper’s World in Brownsville, Brooklyn; their injuries are, however, nonlife-threatening.

The attacker assaulted the women in broad daylight, knocking one woman to the ground and causing her head to bleed. Suddenly, he was confronted and restrained by another man who witnessed the attack.

Other passersby converged on the scene and helped to restrain the man until the police arrived.

The two women were treated for their injuries at the local Brookdale Hospital, and have since been released. The suspect was also taken to Brookdale Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

On the morning of the attack, police charged the suspect, identified as 45-year-old, Andres Flores with three counts of assault, two counts of felony and one misdemeanor. He was scheduled to be arraigned in criminal court that same morning.
