Global Q&A: ‘Do you think too many products are made in China?’
Tatyana Machekhina, 57, Foreign Languages Teacher, Pyatigorsk, Russia: I think that now markets in many countries, as well as in Russia, are flooded with products from China. Mass media quite often report on low quality of Chinese goods and the cases when poisoned, or fake food comes on the market. But in the past, before the Cultural Revolution, imported things from China were highly valued in our country. Those were umbrellas, women's and men's clothing. I remember that my grandfather, a well-known cutter and tailor in the city, admiringly spoke of the quality of those things, how neatly and beautifully they were sewn. This demonstrates that people had respect for their work rather than just pursue money, like it is happening nowadays. (The Epoch Times)
