Dozens of firefighters in Peru battled a large fire in a historic building in Lima’s historic centre on Oct. 27, gutting the building but leaving the exterior largely intact. According to local media, firefighters had been working to put out the flames since 1:30am (6.30am GMT) in the morning.

Body cam footage from a firefighter at the site showed a women rescued from the building. No fatalities have been reported.

Investigators are working on finding the cause for the blaze, with a gas leak or a faulty wire circuit thought to be responsible.

With its classical European architecture, the building had been built in the early 20th century.
