July 20 marks the 26th anniversary of the deadly persecution of the spiritual practice Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, in China. More than 1,000 Falun Dafa practitioners and human rights advocates will gather in the nation’s capital on July 17 for a rally and parade, demanding the Chinese Communist Party end its persecution. Watch our special coverage of these events starting at 12 p.m. ET.

Falun Dafa observes the principles of truth, compassion, and tolerance, and was introduced to the public in the early 1990s. In 1999, viewing the practice’s surging popularity and size as a threat, the Chinese Communist Party launched its persecution of the faith-based practice.
