A domestic-related shooting incident is being investigated by Dallas police after a man opened fire at a Northeast Dallas apartment.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, not long after 2 a.m, officers were called to the Santa Fe Trails Apartments located on Melody Lane near Northwest Highway and U.S. 75.

According to ABC affiliate WFAA, a man entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, who at the time was home with her 9-year-old son and her new boyfriend. Police said the ex-boyfriend broke through a window and fired.

He fired missing everyone.

The suspect then left the apartment and drove away in the new boyfriend’s car. Police said the man, whose identity had not been released yet, shot up the car and then returned it to the complex.

He even parked and locked the car.

However, when he returned police were already on the scene, according to WFAA. The suspect tried to flee but hurt his leg while trying to jump over a wall.

He was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading police.

Police said the new boyfriend fled the apartment too and has not been seen since the incident.

Authorities are still looking for the weapon that was used.

Comments on social media centered on the new boyfriend.
