Andi Dorfman and the remaining four contestants on the Bachelorette learned of Eric Hill’s death during episode 8, which aired on July 7.
Eric was a contestant on the Bachelorette who was eliminated early in the season. He and Andi had a tense encounter before he was eliminated from the show.
Host Chris Harrison broke the news to Andi and the men--Nick Viall, Chris Soules, Josh Murray, and Marcus Grodd (Marcus was eliminated at the end of the episode).
Eric, 31, was killed in a paragliding accident.
Tributes have been paid to Eric throughout this season in the unique situation. ABC noted on the show’s page: “This entire season is dedicated to this vibrant, passionate man who was a memorable part of the Bachelor family.”
Hill’s sister, Karen Tracy, said that seeing him on the show “makes [her] smile.”
“People ask if it’s difficult to watch him on the show, and I do get a little nervous until I see the handsome brother that I know and love,” she told Hollywood Life. “I get a little tearful, but I know Eric would want his audience to enjoy the journey with him, and seeing him makes me smile.”
