Japan issued a tsunami warning alert for residents living in parts of Aomori and Hokkaido in the evening of Dec. 8 after a 7.5 earthquake struck off the coast of northern Japan.
The meteorological agency reported the quake’s magnitude as 7.5, down from its earlier estimate of 7.6.
