Mats Hummels and Arturo Vidal have been linked with Manchester United again, while Liverpool could be making a bid for Dani Alves.
Whether Arturo Vidal leaves Juventus for Man United this summer is very much up to the Chilean international’s hands.
New Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri claims that Vidal is committed to Juventus, but director general Giuseppe Marotta indicated that the club won’t block any attempts for him to leave should be want to.
“[Arturo] Vidal? We already said that he is not on the market, but the player’s will is decisive,” said Marotta.
“Vidal has never said he wants to leave, and Juventus will sell him only if he were unhappy to remain.
“Nowadays, however, there’s absolutely no reason to even be discussing this now,” Morotta added.
Meanwhile, United may be closer to signing one of their key transfer targets this season.
Borussia Dortmund are inquiring about the possibility of taking Tiago Ilori from Liverpool on loan this season, and this could signal that the door is open for United to swoop in for Mats Hummels, according to the Mirror.
The face that Dortmund are looking for defensive cover shows that they could be open to the idea of Hummels leaving. Ironically, this means that whether Man United get their man could be very much dependent on whether their Premier League rival is willing to see theirs go on loan.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for a defender. According to Caughtoffiside, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers could be pursuing Dani Alves this summer.
Barcelona are under going a major make over under new boss Luis Enrique, and at 31 years of age, Alves is deemed surplus to requirements.
If Liverpool are indeed interested, Barca could be selling the right back for at little as £5 million ($8.4 million).
