Cesc Fabregas moves to Chelsea, Dejan Lovren could move to Liverpool, Arsenal are keen on Bressan, while Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur eye Nicolas Gaitan.

In the first big money move of the summer transfer window, Cesc Fabregas has moved to Chelsea.

According to Chelsea FC’s official site, the 27-year-old from Barcelona has signed a 5-year-deal, and will wear the number four shirt.

Fabregas said: “Firstly I would like to thank everyone at FC Barcelona where I enjoyed three wonderful years. It was my childhood club and I will always be proud and honored that I had a chance to play for such a great team.”

“I do feel that I have unfinished business in the Premier League and now is the right time to return.”

“I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies. They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can’t wait to start playing.”

Fabregas’s move will unlikely be taken favorably by his former London club Arsenal, and he should expect a frosty welcome when Chelsea next face Arsenal in the 2014/2015 season.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers’s chance to shore up his side’s leaky defense could be nigh, as Southampton defender Dejan Lovren has handed in a transfer request, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old Croatian defender supposedly cited a desire to play in the Champions League and managerial change as his reason for wanting to leave the club.

Last month, former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino made the move to Tottenham Hotspur, and there is an expected exodus of top Southampton players to other clubs. Already, Saints striker Rickie Lambert has moved to Liverpool, and highly-rated left-back Luke Shaw could be on his way to Man United.

Liverpool have been keeping tabs of Lovren for a while, and will likely swop in to broker a deal.

Another defender that is on the move is Brazilian side Gremio’s Bressan.

The Metro reports that Arsenal are looking to sign the 21-year-old Brazilian, and have sent chief negotiator Dick Law to Brazil to start talks.

Bressan began his career at Juventude, before joining Gremio in 2013. Although he has been linked with Santos, a move to the Emirates Stadium will probably prove to be an offer Bressan will find hard to refuse.

Meanwhile, Man United and Tottenham could be joining in the race for Nicolas Gaitan’s signature, the Express reports.

The 26-year-old Argentine winger as said recently that he “wouldn’t mind” leaving financially beleaguered Portuguese club Benfica this summer.

Gaitan said: “At the moment I am totally focussed on playing for Benfica since I have a contract with them.”

“But I wouldn’t mind playing in a different league and, more importantly, to put the club first to help with their serious problems.”

“Now I am talking about a purely hypothetical situation but if there is a serious formal proposal that will suit the club then I will explore all options.”
