Report: John Mahoney’s Cause of Death Revealed

The cause of death of “Frasier” actor John Mahoney was revealed in a new report on Wednesday, Feb. 7, TMZ reported.
Mahoney passed away Sunday in hospice care, according to his publicist.

Mahoney, born in the United Kingdom, played the father of Frasier – played by Kelsey Grammer – and Niles Craine – played by David Hyde Pierce – on the sitcom for 11 seasons.

TMZ reported Wednesday that his official causes of death causes of death include brain disease, lung cancer, as well as seizures.

He died at the age of 77 in Chicago. Sources told the website that he was cremated.

“He was my father,” Grammer told Entertainment Tonight of Mahoney’s passing. “I loved him.”

The role on the show earned him two Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. Mahoney won a SAG award for his role.

He also had a role in “Hot in Cleveland.” He’s known for his roles in movies such as “American President,” “Say Anything,” and “Eight Men Out.”

“I’ve not known a kinder man nor more brilliant actor,” casting director Jeff Greenberg wrote on Twitter.

“We were all blessed to have spent 11 glorious years together.”

The Washington Times reported that Mahoney never married and had no children.
