Culinary and lifestyle expert Martha Stewart is adding sports to her resume, as she joins her close friend and rapper Snoop Dogg as minority owner of Welsh soccer team Swansea City.
“We are delighted to confirm Martha, who has built a long and successful career as America’s leading homemaking and lifestyle expert, has followed Snoop and Luka Modric in becoming a minority owner of our football club,” read the statement.
“We are very excited to welcome Martha on board, and we know experiencing Friday night’s game in person has only increased her own enthusiasm and anticipation for being part of Swansea City.”
The announcement did not disclose the financial details of Stewart’s deal, and the television personality has yet to publicly comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, Snoop, despite not being there in person, showed his team support while at the Cosm venue in Los Angeles, where he watched the game.
“Cosm provides an immersive viewing experience for supporters, and made those in attendance feel like they were in the Swansea.com Stadium with the rest of us cheering on the team,” the statement continued.
“The screening of the [game]—which was also shown in Cosm’s Dallas location—underlines the increased exposure and increased visibility we have as a club following the additions of Snoop and Luka to our ownership group.”
“It feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” the rapper said in an announcement at the time. “The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me.”
“This is a proud, working class city and club,” he added. “An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club.”
Stewart and Snoop follow AC Milan central midfielder and Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, who became co-owner himself in April of this year.
The Croatian soccer star felt drawn to the team’s ambition and vision, noting his investment will play a key role in assisting the club garner “global attention and progress both on and off the pitch.”
“Playing at the highest level, I believe I can provide my experience to the club. My goal is to support the club’s growth in a positive way and to help to build an exciting future.”
