Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has stepped in as a temporary spokesperson for the New York-based tech company Astronomer, following the recent resignation of two top executives after an incident at a Coldplay concert drew viral attention online.
“Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones,” Paltrow said in the video. She avoided directly addressing the controversy, instead shifting focus to the company’s operations: “We’ve been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation.”
The company, which helps clients manage data infrastructure, found itself at the center of attention after its CEO Andy Byron and chief people officer Kristin Cabot were seen embracing each other at a Coldplay concert in Boston earlier this month.

The video featuring Paltrow adopted a light, satirical tone. In it, the actress calmly responds to on-screen prompts that appear to be beginnings of questions about the incident, only to deliver polished answers unrelated to what happened.
“Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow,” Paltrow says. “We will now be returning to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers.”
While the campaign does not reference the incident explicitly, the choice to feature Paltrow, given her past connection to Martin, was widely interpreted as a strategic move to redirect public attention while acknowledging the situation indirectly.
“Thank you for your interest in Astronomer,” the company captioned the post.
Paltrow is an Academy Award-winning actress who gained early recognition for her roles in films such as “Shakespeare in Love,” “Emma,” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” and later became widely known for portraying Pepper Potts in Marvel’s “Iron Man” and “Avengers” franchises. Her most recent project was a voice acting role in the television series “American Horror Stories.”
Paltrow was married to Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin from 2003 until their separation in 2014. The couple, who have two children together, publicly described their split as a “conscious uncoupling” and have remained on amicable terms.
Astronomer has not released additional statements on the leadership departures but has continued to promote its upcoming “Beyond Analytics” conference scheduled for September.
