Elizabeth Franz, a celebrated stage actress whose intense and unconventional portrayal of Linda Loman in “Death of a Salesman” earned some of the highest praise of her career, died Nov. 4 at her home in Woodbury, Connecticut. She was 84.

Her husband, screenwriter Christopher Pelham, confirmed to The New York Times on Nov. 14 that Franz had been diagnosed with cancer and suffered a severe reaction to treatment medications.
